Skiing at Cermis and immersing yourself in the kingdom of Cermislandia

The Alpe Cermis area, whose facilities start directly from Cavalese (where the ice palace is located), has 23 kilometers of slopes (7 of which are on the Olimpia slope which reaches down to the valley).

For children who are still too young to ski, the magical kingdom of the baby snow park in Cermislandia is ideal. All sunny for a good part of the day, it also has a refreshment point at Doss dei Laresi. This is where the ski school for younger children (4-5 years) is located, which includes a special 15-hour introductory skiing course for beginners, with a snow kindergarten at Cermislandia.

Meanwhile, adults will be able to ski throughout the entire area that leads to the top of Paion, from which you can see a wonderful view of the entire Dolomites.

The Lavazè Pass with children

In ten minutes by car from Cavalese you arrive at the Lavazè pass, at 1800 meters above sea level in a very family-friendly context. Free parking, services such as bars and restaurants and toboggan runs and baby snow park. All in a wonderful landscape setting, overlooking the Latemar, Corno Bianco and Corno Nero. Furthermore, for cross-country skiing lovers, there are 67 kilometers of track!

At the Greta & Gummer Playground there are lots of "soft" games suitable even for very young children, slides, and right in front the bobsled and sled track with treadmill. Children under 3 years old enter for free, while companions pay €10 for the whole day or €5 for a half day, including deckchairs.

Toboggan run in Bellamonte

As an alternative to skiing, here is a fun sleigh ride on the slopes of Bellamonte in Val di Fiemme, about 10 minutes by car from Predazzo. A 2,100 meter long track, completely immersed in the snow-covered woods of Alpe Lusia! Going up with the cable car to the "Fassane" intermediate station, at an altitude of 1,750 metres, you can experience the thrill of speeding across the snow. It will be a fun experience not only for children, but also for adults.

It is possible to rent sleds at the ski rental shop under the cable car departure point. If you have one, make sure it has the required features.

Paneveggio and the deer enclosure

There is a place you absolutely must see if you are in Val di Fiemme: we are talking about the deer enclosure about ten kilometers from Predazzo, just before Passo Rolle. A large area where a large herd of these animals lives in semi-freedom. Thanks to the observation points and the walk around the delimited area it will not be difficult to spot them, in fact... you can see them really close up! In the Paneveggio Park, don't miss the Marvò path, a walk suitable for everyone in the beautiful violin forest. Pay a visit to the visitor center of the same name which from January 2024 will have great news. Or take part in one of the various activities organized during the winter period.

Malga Varena at Passo Lavazè

At Passo Lavazé, about twenty minutes' drive from Cavalese, there is the Malga Varena snow park. Next to the ski lift of the school camp we find: three slopes for tubbies (rubber donuts) and a slope for snowbikes, monoskis, sleds and bobsleighs.

Entrance to the park is subject to a fee and in addition to the rides it provides vehicles. For those still just starting out in winter sports, a small treadmill allows you to easily get on and off the two shorter slopes. There is approximately 100 meters of descent to be covered with sleds, bobsleds or bikes with skis. Those who are more experienced and are looking for a more complex ride can go down the third slope, about a kilometer long, and then return to Malga Varena with a comfortable ski lift.
